Brazil for Olympics, Party People and Daredevils

29 July 2016

Whether you’re obsessed with sports or hotels that make your heart soar, a spontaneous escape to Brazil is a golden ticket for adrenaline junkies.

Home to mind-bending architecture, electric samba clubs and stunning beaches that blend mountain, jungle and sea, there’s no place like Brazil. Shaped by sprawling cities and round-the-clock hedonism, the South American nation is an intoxicating alternative to everyday life. Here are 5 ways to unleash your inner party animal in Brazil.

1. RIO 2016 OLYMPICS

The world will be watching in August as the Olympic torch completes its journey to Rio. The question is, will you be watching from home or from the arenas  themselves? Anything is possible! If you’re planning a super last minute trip to Brazil, the first thing to know is that Olympic ticketing is allocated per country, so each country has its own agency, and citizens are asked to purchase tickets through CoSports’ country-specific allocations. A good place to start!

2. CARVE IT UP AT CARNATAL

Move over Carnivale – for those in the know, it’s all about Carnatal, a street fiesta that channels the high-octane atmosphere of Brazil’s most famous festival minus the tourist-focused tackiness. Although the carnival, which unfolds in the first week of December, entices hordes of revellers with all-night parties, it’s equally about celebrating authentic artists, the trio elétricos – Brazilian bands that launch into spontaneous performances atop monster trucks. Carnatal celebrates 25 years this December, so it’s sure to be an even more epic party than usual.

3. ASTONISHING ACCOMODATION

Brazil’s offbeat design culture and geometrical architecture might make the country a magnet for architecture buffs, but its the nation’s jaw-dropping, dramatic natural landscape that has given rise to some of the most exhilarating hotel experiences in the world. Try the Cristalino Lodge, a series of luxury cabins set in lush Amazonian rainforest, complete with  jungle hiking trails and roving jaguars! Or, book a suite at the Uxua Casa Hotel in Bahia to sip your morning coffee on a hilltop while the ocean waves crash below.

4. EXTREME CHURRASCO

Although you may already be hooked on churrasco, the traditional Brazilian dish that involves slices of marinated meat skewered and cooked on an outdoor grill, nothing compares to unleashing your inner carnivore while gorging on waterfront views of Guanabara Bay. Porcao, a cheerful churrascaria that sees suited waiters deliver sizzling cuts of pork and beef to your table, is proof that culinary adventure is best served with a side of natural spectacle.

5. COASTAL HIGHS

While beaches such as Ipanema are given over to sun worshippers, Brazil’s most exhilarating coastal experiences swap the sand for the sea. Ocean kayaking on the Costa Verde is your passport to a heady ocean adventure – the route’s surging water, jagged mountains and secret bluffs will see your pulse and excitement levels skyrocket.

Whether your travel fantasies revolve around all-night parties or simply lingering over an otherworldly view, a Brazilian holiday is synonymous with adrenaline-heavy encounters destined to keep your inner hedonist hooked.
