About you

This is Bianka, from Budapest, Hungary. I just turned 30, and I am working as a full-time lawyer in a law office in Budapest; otherwise, my true passion is traveling. I have been working at this law office since I graduated, but I always knew that I needed something more in my life than my career. This spice in my life is my adventure. Besides literally being on the road, I also love planning and reading a lot about my destinations. My followers already know that I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so I am also trying to search for related locations, as well as having two little bunnies.

Why do you travel and look for adventures?

When I was a kid, we traveled a lot with my parents, but only in our country. My father truly believed that I should know my country first before opening my mind to the rest of the world. I am so grateful for this, as we discovered every corner of Hungary during my young years, and I have a strong base. My first experience abroad was in high school when we went on a field trip to Rome with my class. This was my first ever overseas flying trip, and I was amazed. I knew that I should see more of the world and Italy (which is still my favorite country). Luckily, I met my husband, who shares my passion, and we know our joint goal is to know our world better.

What kind of adventures do you look for when you travel?

I always try to maximize my time at each destination. I am not a beach person (although I love the views) I need to wake up every day and start exploring something new. I prefer cities, unique locations and natural wonders to explore. Always on a search for something new, barely there are few destinations I’ve visited more than once.

What’s your go-to travel hack?

My favorite moment was when we finally got to New York City on our honeymoon. NYC was my dream since I was a kid. We just got there and the first place where we got out of the subway was the Times Square. I know it is so touristy, but I never forget the moment when I was standing in the middle of Times Square among the tall skyscrapers realizing that I am living my dream.

Got any gear you can’t travel without?

I am always traveling with the same backpack, AirPods, and camera gear as everybody but I have a little crocheted monkey (my mum made Him) and He is traveling with me everywhere! 🙂

What destination are you eager to go back to?

New York City is my dream city and I can go back anytime there. From Europe this city for me is London. As for a country I have a strong passion for Italy and no year is complete for me without a trip there!

How do you stay safe when you’re travelling?

I am always searching for accommodations in the city center and checking the surroundings in google maps street view. Also, I am reading a lot about where to stay and where to eat, etc. I am trying to get back to the hotel (or really close to the hotel) after the sun goes down (it is so comfortable when your hotel is in the city center). Anyway, I am most of the time traveling with my husband, and besides that, we just have some girls’ trips, but I am rarely alone.

What’s the best way to experience a destination like a local?

Try to find places which are lesser known and not so touristy. Always try to find restaurants that are popular among the locals and not tourist traps. I never eat near the sights. Going to a local market or a local event is also a great idea to discover a place yourself.

What’s your favourite word in another language?

I don’t really have. I am a native Hungarian speaker, which I consider one of the most beautiful languages in the word. Also I am fluently speak English, and have a little knowledge of French and Spanish.

When and where are you next travelling?

I just got home from Italy and have an Austrian road trip planned for the beginning of April. After that, I have a booked trip to New Orleans, USA, and a 2 weeks trip to Mexico.
